We have six dedicated dog-friendly rooms at the Mountaineer Lodge – ground floor, easy outdoor access, and Lake Louise right at the door. Spots go fast, so book early.

We love dogs, and we want to make sure your stay goes smoothly. Dog-friendly rooms are available in the Timber Lodge only, on the ground floor. There are just six of them, and they fill up quickly. The rest of the hotel is pet-free.

One Queen Sofa Bed - Dog Friendly
Located in the Timber Lodge on the ground floor with exterior entrance. No stairs, just straight out the door for your morning walk. Comfortable for two guests plus a dog.

Lake Louise is spectacular walking territory. All dogs must be on leash in Banff National Park at all times.

A flat, forested trail from the village to Lake Louise - the best dog walk right from your door. No driving, no parking headaches.
Lake Louise Lakeshore

One of the most iconic walks in Canada. A relaxed out-and-back along the shore of Lake Louise with glacier views. Beautiful in every season.
Bow River Loop
Village • Easy • Mostly flat
A gentle riverside loop following the Bow River, great for an easy morning or evening walk with your dog. Starts near the Station Restaurant.
Dogs must be on leash at all times in Banff National Park. Not all trails permit dogs, so always check Parks Canada trail conditions before heading out.
The Village Market - a short walk away
The only grocery store in Lake Louise village, located at Samson Mall and an easy walk from the hotel. Pick up dog food, treats, or anything else you need. Note: selection is limited, so stocking up in Canmore or Banff on the way in is a good idea for specialty items.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, up to two dogs per room, each weighing 40 kg (88 lbs) or less. A pet fee of $30 plus applicable taxes applies per dog. You’ll be asked to sign our Dogs Can Stay policy at check-in.
Dogs are welcome in our six dedicated dog-friendly rooms in the Timber Lodge only. They are not permitted in any other rooms, suites, the pool area, or food and beverage areas of the hotel.
Yes, for short periods. Dogs cannot be left unattended for more than 60 minutes. If you do leave your dog in the room, please provide your contact information to the Front Desk beforehand.
Dogs only are permitted in our dog-friendly rooms. Other pets and emotional support animals are not permitted anywhere in the hotel. Certified service animals are welcome as required by Canadian law.
